Flannery O’Connor’s “A Good Man is Hard to Find” is an absolutely terrible story to read right before you get ready for bed, and especially so when you’ve just lost a grandparent.
It seems even worse when you note the similarities between your own recently-buried grandfather and the grandmother featured in the story who, at the end, gets shot three times in the chest after encouraging her shooter to pray with her.
I wish my English professor hadn’t assigned this for homework.
I’m going to go pretend I have no raw emotions and attempt to fall asleep now.
