Four hundred days have passed since I’ve heard from you last
I’m getting worried, I admit
Maybe it’s nothing much
There’s nicer shores in sight
Oh I just don’t know
Of all the places I laid down my head I think of two I regret
Love isn’t easy my baby we’d tell you today
But tell Mr. Shoemaker I’ll be away
On a rocket or a comet or the dock of the bay
On a continental steam ship sailin’ away
On a one way ticket on a 1st class airplane
I wanna know what you’re thinkin’ about
Don’t just let me go…

Olivia, In a Separate Bed - Robin Pecknold
I just learned of this song’s existence today. Oh my my. How beautiful, poignant, and sad.
So this is how it ends
In separate beds
A wall between us
And this is how it dies
Separate our lives
And hope it heals us
I chose the love of strangers
I chose the fickle crowd
And the woman I wagered
Won’t look at me right now
(Not now)
I know I’ve been like a house cat
Give me this, give me that
And I know I’ll be okay
But beg for my attention
A word from my affection
I just stare and walk away
How can I show you
I’d do all I could do
to show you I adore you?
Olivia
And the days go by
In a supplicated style
Hand me the anodynes
Oh, Olivia
I still love you
and I know I will
‘til I die
And this feels like
Common madness
Why this wasted life?
Come to me
The photographer is lucky
Does he even know my name?
Does he know I’d give it all up
If I only could be here?
But I used all my chances
(and a few after that)
Now I’m floating in the ashes
Olivia
And the days go by
In a supplicated style
Hand me the anodynes
Oh, Olivia
I still love you
and I know I will
‘til I die
And this feels like
Common madness
Why this wasted life?
Come to me
After all is said and done, I feel the same.
All that I hoped would change within me stayed
like a huddled moonlit exile, on the shore -
warming his hands a thousand years ago.
I walk with others in me, yearning to get out;
claw at my skin and gnash their teeth and shout.
One of them wants only to be someone you’d admire.
One would as soon just throw you on the fire.
After all is said and after all is done,
God only knows which of them I’ll become.
Song of the Day: “Sun Giant” - Fleet Foxes
These past couple days have been crazy-busy but also crazy-beautiful. My work week is almost over, I’ll be going home for the weekend, I’m still on my great Fleet Foxes kick, and last night’s “surprise” party was a marvelous success. I am sleepy, but so incredibly pleased. I love the people in my life, and I love everything that has encompassed these past two and a half days. I feel blessed.
“What a life I lead in the summer,
What a life I lead in the spring.
What a life I lead in the winded breeze.
What a life I lead in the spring.
What a life I lead when the sun breaks free
as a giant torn from the clouds.
What a life indeed when that ancient seed
is a berry watered and plowed.
What a life
What a life
What a life
What a life
What a life I lead in the summer,
What a life I lead in the spring.
What a life I lead in the winded breeze.
What a life I lead in the spring.”

“Tell your brother to be good.
Tell your sister not to go.
Tell your mother not to wait.
Tell your father I was good.”
Please let me birth your great children.
Also, I will supply you with all of the Claritin you ever desire.
Also, I can rhyme.
Love, Lauren
Fleet Foxes blew me away.
they stare when you go.
You’ve got so much control.
How could anyone say no?
They rarely do,
that’s why you’re you
and why you’re winning."
